Clarifying and documenting all of your communication with other REALTORS® is crucial when working on transactions that involve other brokerages. A web seminar (webinar) will explore this topic.

When you are working with other salespeople or brokerages, it’s crucial to work smart. Take part in an upcoming web seminar on the importance of clarifying and documenting all communication when other real estate professionals are involved in your transactions.

The Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA) is hosting a web seminar on Wednesday, June 21 from 11 a.m. to noon. The topic is Co-operating, co-brokering and communicating. It is part of a series of web seminars (webinars) designed to “take the mystery” out of OREA forms.

“If your real estate transactions involve other real estate professionals, it’s in the best interests of you and your consumers to clarify and document all communications,” says Cassandra Agnew Walker, OREA’s senior manager, standard forms, who will lead the session. “This webinar will explore various topics related to communication and clarification in these types of transactions.”

The association provides standard forms that can ensure accountability and regulatory compliance in common real estate situations, she says. These include multiple representation, multiple offers, co-brokerage of listings, and the delivery and receipt of referrals.

Ray Ferris, immediate past president of OREA, is a featured speaker at the webinar. He has been active in the real estate profession for 21 years, and is the broker of record with Erie’s Edge Real Estate Ltd., Brokerage in Port Rowan, Ontario.

The webinar will address ways to:
  • Ensure regulatory compliance when documenting and communicating in the above situations
  • Communicate with other salespeople and/or brokerages with clarity and details
  • Use OREA standard forms to trade with best practices
  • Take precautions to reduce risks
  • Ensure you apply ethical habits to maintain integrity when working with others.

Participants will have the opportunity to submit questions and share their own experiences. This webinar is just one in a series related to standard forms presented by OREA. To join in on webinar day, all you need is a computer with working speakers and internet access. More webinars are planned throughout 2017. If you can’t participate on the date offered, you can watch a recorded version at a later date and time convenient to you.

On the day of the webinar, members can log in up to 30 minutes before the scheduled start time. Participation in this and other webinars is on a first-come, first-served basis.
